Stock market & trading FAQs

Answers on account opening, equity & F&O trading, charges, funds, IPO, platforms and investor rights — for J Eklera Securities clients and new investors.

Account Opening & KYC

Click Open Account on our website and complete the online KYC form with your PAN, Aadhaar, bank details and signature. Verify via OTP and e-Sign through DigiLocker. Once approved, you will receive your client ID and login credentials by email/SMS.

You need a valid PAN card, Aadhaar (linked to mobile for OTP), a cancelled cheque or bank statement for bank proof, and a recent photograph. All verification is done digitally — no physical document submission is required for most retail clients.

Online registration takes about 10 minutes. After successful KYC verification, accounts are typically activated within one business day (often within a few hours during market hours).

Yes. J Eklera Securities offers free account opening for retail investors. Standard statutory and exchange charges apply only when you trade or on demat transactions as per our pricing page.

A trading account is used to place buy/sell orders on stock exchanges (NSE, BSE, MCX). A Demat account holds your shares and securities in electronic form with CDSL. Both are linked — when you buy shares, they are credited to your Demat; when you sell, they are debited.

Joint accounts can be opened with appropriate KYC for all holders. Minor accounts require a guardian to operate the account. Contact our team at contact or call 9638119638 for specific requirements.

Equity Trading

The stock market is where shares of publicly listed companies are bought and sold on exchanges like NSE and BSE. When you buy a share, you own a part of that company. Prices change based on supply, demand, company performance and market sentiment. J Eklera provides a SEBI-regulated platform to trade these shares transparently.

Yes — J Eklera charges ₹0 brokerage on equity delivery (CNC) orders across NSE and BSE. You still pay statutory charges including STT, stamp duty, exchange transaction charges, GST and SEBI fees. DP charges apply on sell-side demat debits as per our pricing schedule.

Delivery means buying shares and holding them in your Demat account for days, months or years — ideal for investing. Intraday means opening and closing the position on the same trading day — positions are auto squared off if not exited before the cut-off time.

Market order — executes at the best available price immediately. Limit order — executes only at your specified price or better. Stop-loss (SL) — triggers a order when price hits your stop level to limit losses. SL-M — stop-loss market order that executes as a market order once triggered.

T+1 means trade settlement happens on the next working day after the trade date. If you buy shares on Monday, they are credited to your Demat account by Tuesday (subject to exchange and clearing timelines).

BTST allows you to buy shares today and sell them the next trading day before they are fully credited to Demat, subject to risk management and product availability. It is used for short-term trading opportunities.

GTT lets you set a trigger price for buy or sell orders that remain active until triggered or cancelled. Useful for placing target and stop-loss levels without monitoring the market constantly.

Futures & Options (F&O)

Futures and Options are derivative contracts whose value is derived from an underlying asset (index or stock). Futures obligate you to buy/sell at a future date at an agreed price. Options give the buyer the right (not obligation) to buy (Call) or sell (Put) at a strike price before expiry.

Exchange-specified SPAN + exposure margin is required, varying by contract, volatility and position. Margin is blocked when you enter a trade and released when the position is closed. Check available margin on the order window before placing F&O orders.

Index and stock F&O contracts expire on scheduled dates (weekly/monthly for indices, monthly for most stock options). Open positions must be squared off or rolled over before the exchange cut-off on expiry day, or they may be settled/exercised as per exchange rules.

Yes — you can write (sell) options if you have sufficient margin. Many traders pledge existing Demat holdings as collateral to meet margin requirements. Pledge is done through the depository system with OTP verification as per SEBI guidelines.

An option chain displays all available strike prices for Calls and Puts with live data on premium, open interest (OI), volume and change in OI — helping traders analyse support, resistance and market sentiment.

F&O involve significant leverage and risk. SEBI data shows most retail F&O traders incur net losses. We recommend understanding derivatives thoroughly, starting with small size, and reading our risk disclaimer before trading.

Commodity Trading

Yes. J Eklera is a registered MCX trading member (TM 57725) and offers commodity futures trading on contracts such as gold, silver, crude oil and agricultural commodities, subject to product enablement on your account.

Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) is a SEBI-regulated exchange where commodity derivatives are traded. Prices are driven by global supply-demand, currency movements, geopolitical events and seasonal factors.

MCX has separate sessions including morning and evening (international linkage) windows depending on the commodity. Check the MCX website or our trading platform for the latest schedule for each contract.

Brokerage & Charges

Full details are on our Pricing page including equity, F&O, commodity, DP and account-related fees. Contract notes for each trade also show a complete charge breakdown.

Common charges include Securities Transaction Tax (STT), stamp duty (state-wise), exchange transaction charges, SEBI turnover fees and GST on brokerage and transaction charges. These are levied by the government/exchanges, not retained by the broker.

Depository Participant (DP) charges are levied when securities are debited from your Demat account (typically on sell transactions). The rate is published on our pricing page and appears on your contract note.

No. J Eklera follows transparent pricing. All applicable charges are disclosed on the pricing page and contract notes. Call and trade charges, if applicable, are also listed upfront.

Funds, Payouts & Margin

Transfer funds via UPI or net banking from the Funds section on web trading, mobile app or client backoffice. Only transfer from your registered bank account. Funds are typically credited within minutes during banking hours.

Place a payout/withdrawal request from the Funds section. Amounts are transferred to your registered bank account as per exchange and internal processing timelines (usually T+1 for approved requests).

MTF allows you to buy eligible stocks by paying a portion of the value upfront while the broker funds the balance, subject to SEBI and internal limits. Interest is charged on the funded amount. See our MTF product page for details.

From September 2020, brokers can accept securities as margin only via pledge in the depository system. You pledge holdings from your Demat with OTP verification; collateral value is credited to your trading limit for F&O and other margin products.

As per exchange regulations, investors must pay at least 20% upfront margin of the transaction value to trade in the cash market segment. Your available balance and margin statement reflect these requirements.

IPO, ASBA & Corporate Actions

Apply via ASBA (Application Supported by Blocked Amount) from the IPO section on our platform when an issue is open. Funds are blocked in your bank account until allotment; only the allotted amount is debited. See IPO & ASBA for the process.

No. ASBA uses your linked bank account — write the account number and authorise the bank in the application form. If shares are not allotted, the blocked amount is released automatically.

Corporate actions like dividends, bonus shares, stock splits and rights issues are processed by the company and credited to your Demat account. Track them in your holdings and email notifications from CDSL/RTA.

Daily contract notes are emailed after market hours. Ledger, P&L, holding statements and tax reports are available in the client backoffice and can be downloaded as PDF.

Stock Market Basics

NSE (National Stock Exchange) and BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) are India's primary stock exchanges regulated by SEBI. Companies list their shares here; investors trade through brokers like J Eklera who are exchange members.

A share represents fractional ownership in a company. Shareholders may benefit from price appreciation and dividends (if declared). Share prices fluctuate based on company results, industry trends and overall market conditions.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regulates Indian securities markets, protects investors and registers brokers, depositories and exchanges. J Eklera is SEBI-registered as stock broker INZ000310233 and CDSL depository participant IN-DP-844-2026.

Stock prices can fall as well as rise. You may lose part or all of your invested capital. Liquidity, company-specific events and macroeconomic factors affect returns. Always read offer documents, diversify and invest only what you can afford to lose.

Spreading investments across sectors, asset classes and companies to reduce concentration risk. Instead of putting all capital in one stock, a diversified portfolio balances potential returns with risk.

Investor caution

Investments in securities market are subject to market risks. Read all related documents carefully before investing. Derivatives involve substantial risk — 9 out of 10 individual traders in equity F&O incurred net losses in FY 2021-22 (SEBI study). Registration with SEBI does not guarantee returns.
